Configuring Antivirus and Windows Firewall settings

You need to install an antivirus program or Windows Defender to perform these steps:

  • Launch Windows Defender Security Center
  • Later, go to the virus and then threat protection
  • With this, click Add Exclusion and choose the folder
  • Now, add the Intuit folder in C drives as an exclusion.

Manually adding ports to QuickBooks Firewall

  1. Search for Firewall after clicking the start menu.
  2. Select Windows firewall.
  3. Scroll down the right pane to find Advanced Settings.
  4. Goto Inbound Rules. Right-click on it, then later click on New Rule.
  5. Choose a Port and click on the Next tab.
  6. Locate the TCP option and input the ports to be used for the QuickBooks edition that is currently installed on the computer. 
  7. QuickBooks Desktop 2018: 8019, 56728, 55378 - 55382
  8. QuickBooks Desktop 2017: 8019, 56727, 55373-55377
  9. QuickBooks Desktop 2016: 8019, 56726, 55368-55372
  10. QuickBooks Desktop 2015: 8019, 56725, 55363-55367
  11. Select the next Tab. You should permit your company files to be selected on this page and now select next again.
  12. Now you confirm with a tick all the profiles,
  13. Give Rule Name, say QBPORTs, and finish.
  14. Repeat all these steps to apply the same for outbound rules.
  15. Test by starting QuickBooks Desktop in multi-user mode or over the network to confirm the problem is solved.
